Hudson Fulton Celebration 1909 Pennant

Felt pennant with applied printed cardboard center seal commemorating the 1909 Hudson Fulton Celebration in New York City. The celebration marked the 300 year anniversary of Hudson's discovery of the river that bears his name and the 100th anniversary of Fulton's paddle steamship. The celebration was held from September 25th to October 9th of 1909 and included parades, fireworks, naval demonstrations with replica ships as well as modern advances in naval technology, and aircraft demonstrations. The pennant is composed of a red, white and blue strips of felt sewn together with screened black lettering and designs, as well as a central blue printed cardboard disc with portraits of both Hudson and Fulton and their respective ships ( Hudson's Half Moon and Fulton's Clermont ). Pennant shows some minor fading to colors and light soiling. Center disc has wear to the surface and a crease line through the center. Cardboard disc is marked Nadel & Shimmel, New York.
