East St. Louis, IL - Ch. 8932 - $10 Red Seal
The City National Bank of East Saint Louis was open for business in the sixteen months between October 1907 and January 1909. During that time it only issued 1902 red seals. Before the addition of this note, the census stood at just a single example. That note, a $20 red seal, didn't have a grade or treasury serial number listed with it. As far as we can tell, this is the first chance any STL or Illinois collector has had to add this charter to his collection. The note itself is far better looking than what many collectors have to settle for when it comes to semi-unique notes. The paper is crisp, the stamped signatures are purple, and the margins are nearly perfect. We will point out two staple holes in the lower left corner. This note is certain to be a favorite of its next owner.
