1843-C $5 Liberty Gold Coin

This scarce coin had a mintage of just 44,277 pieces. And that entire issue was likely well-used and spread across the eastern half of the United States even before Lincoln entered the White House. While having a nice overall appearance, this piece of Charlotte gold was just a bit too shiny for the graders so they called it cleaned. (From Max Mehl customer buying in the 1950s)
