Des Moines, IA - Ch. 2583 - 1882 $50 Brown Back

You might be inclined to group this as a type note at a glance, but don't make that mistake. There is only one other $50 brown back known to exist from Des Moines. Des Moines is of course Iowa's capital city, which means this should appeal to more than just state collectors. There are no $100 brown backs from the city. This example has a group of seven pinholes, two tiny margin splits, and it looks like the upper right corner got lost along the way. However, the fresh paper, original surfaces, and dark stamped signatures more than make up for the previously mentioned minor condition notes. The $50 note we are offering here turned up at an abandoned safety deposit auction in the midwest. I expect the new owner will treasure this a little bit more than the last one did.
