Fr. 1132-A - 1918 $500 Federal Reserve Note Boston

This is an exciting new addition to the census. It becomes just the fifth reported 1918 $500 for the Boston district. One of the five is held by the Smithsonian. It is a rare occurrence to find new large size high denominations in today's collecting environment. They have been a recognized rarity for decades. These were rarities almost as soon as they were printed. The Boston district only issued 13,600 notes. The last one that sold at auction was a PCGS 35 that brought just over $43,000 in 2007. So it seems likely that it will take a bid in the high end or above the estimate to buy this lovely VF in what is fast becoming a very hot currency market.
