1940s Boy Scout Sash with 29 Merit Badges and 8 Ohio Camp Patches
Boy Scout Merit Badge sash with 29 merit badges that were creatively bordered with embroidery floss by the scout. Sash also includes 8 camp patches on the reverse from Cincinnati, Ohio area camps dating from 1944 - 1954 including Cincinnati Area Council Camp Patch, Peterloon Camporal patches from 1944, 46, 47, 48, 50 and 54 as well as a Polar Bear Camp patch from Cincinnati well. We assume the merit badges were cut down from narrow crimped designs issued during that period and bordered with the colored floss. This lot also includes a sterling silver medal awarded to the scout by the American Legion as Best Camper at Camp Edward Friedlander in 1947/48, medal is marked on back STERLING BALFOUR. Very attractive sash.
